Frequently Asked Questions

  • We collect GST in Canada.
  • If we have found your billing address to be invalid or incomplete, you will be prompted to update your address so we can ensure you are being billed correctly. Please note: sales tax is determined by your billing address. If you update your address to a location for which we are required to charge tax, you will see this added to your next invoice.
  • Moz is required to collect tax for specific locations. If you have updated your address to a location where you are required to collect tax, you will see this added to your invoice moving forward. Additionally, as new states implement tax collection laws, Moz will update accordingly. If you have questions about sales tax that are not answered below, please contact our Help Team at help@moz.com.
  • All pricing for Moz products is listed as the list price + sales tax. If you enter a billing address in a location where tax is required, you will see this added to your total. You may also receive an email from help@moz.com indicating that you will be charged tax if system changes are made to account for tax policy updates.

Moz’s US Sales Tax Policy

There are some U.S. states in which we are legally required to collect sales tax. This is based on the billing address for the account. Sales tax is applied in addition to the prices shown on our pricing page.

States for which we are required to collect sales tax:

  • Arizona
  • Connecticut
  • District of Columbia
  • Hawaii
  • Iowa
  • Massachusetts
  • Nebraska
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Washington DC
  • Washington State

This list may not be exhaustive depending on tax code changes, if you’re seeing sales tax listed for an account billed in another state it is likely that we have since been required to collect tax here, if you’re unsure please reach out to help@moz.com.

Moz's CA Sales Tax Policy

We are legally required to collect sales tax in Canada, but it differs for each province. Please see below to view the policy for your particular province. Sales tax is applied in addition to the prices shown on our pricing page. If you have any questions, please get in touch with help@moz.com*.

Where do we collect GST only?

The provinces in which we collect GST include Alberta, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.

Where do we collect HST only?

The provinces in which we collect HST include Ontario, Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

Where do we collect both GST & PST?

The provinces in which we collect both GST & PST include British Columbia and Québec.

Submit a Tax Exemption Request

If your business is located in one of the US or Canadian states where we’re required to collect sales tax, and your business is tax-exempt, please email help@moz.com with the following information:

  • Email address associated with the account
  • Proof of tax-exempt status (letter from a government agency and/or tax exemption certificate)

Update Your Billing Address

To update your billing address, follow the below steps.

  1. Click the circle icon on the top right

  2. Click Account & Billing

  3. Select the Billing Info tab from the top of the screen

  4. Click Replace below your payment information

Locate Sales Tax on Your Moz Invoice

You will see sales tax listed on your invoice. To locate your invoice, log into your Moz account and follow these steps:

  1. Click on Account & Billing from the drop-down menu on the right

  2. Select the Billing Info tab from the top of the screen

  3. Below your Billing Information, within your Transaction History, click on View to the right to open your invoice

Sales tax will be listed as a separate line item on your invoice and will be noted in the total.

You can locate your invoices in your account & billing section.
